actor, puppeteer, summoner of shadows.

Bio and Artist Statement Chad Ethan Shohet is an explorer of poking the theatrical bear. Primarily an actor, puppeteer, director, and playwright, Chad has been a professional theatre artist based in Boise for 15 years, where he’s been seen onstage as an ensemble regular in Boise Contemporary Theater’s Children’s Reading Series and Idaho Shakespeare Festival’s education tours. Chad was a 2018-2019 Resident Company Member at the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center and served as Artistic Director for HomeGrown Theatre where he has produced 17 productions, and is the creator and Creative Director of the wildly popular Horrific Puppet Affair for 8 seasons. Favorite roles include Lungs (HGT), Audrey II Puppeteer in Little Shop of Horrors, Marcellus/Ghost/Osric in Hamlet, Silvius in As You Like It, Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (ISF). Shadowplays include 39 Steps, the Tempest, Alice in Neverland (ISF), Clara Umbra, Oppy, Alligator (HGT), Carnival of Animals (Boise Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, WindSync Austin).

Chad creates theatrical fantasias that explore the chasm of the unknown, unexplainable cosmic anxieties that creep around your subconscious. Mostly, he is a dreamer who chases wonderful nightmares. Lately, Chad can be found making shadow puppet creations, and puppeteering Audrey II in regional productions of Little Shop of Horrors around the country.
